Please note: Candidates are required to wear enclosed footwear, a long sleeved shirt, and trousers made of non-flammable material. The division offers POST continuing education units (CEUs) for officers attending the Fire Cause Determination and Fire Investigator courses. The Fire & Safety Division provides education and training to new and experienced firefighters.

While this course is suitable for anyone who wants to learn how to operate simple firefighting equipment whether at work or home, it is particularly recommended for employees and OSH representatives in the following industries: construction, mining, resources, manufacturing, administrative areas and retail. Confidence in identifying and operating firefighting equipment Awareness of potential fire hazards in the workplace An ability to make basic risk assessments. You will also gain the necessary theoretical knowledge to classify types of fires and select appropriate portable firefighting equipment. You will have the opportunity to extinguish live flames by learning the procedures to roll out, discharge and wind up fire hose reels, and utilise a fire blanket. In the Basic Fire Fighting and Prevention e-Learning Training course, the learner will learn how to safely use firefighting equipment such as Fire Extinguishers.
